why is being a woman significant to me?
-women are over 50% of the world population but do 3/4 of the worlds labor and own only 1% of property and assets
-most of the worlds poor are WOC and their children
-the leading cause of death for women is at the hands of their male partner
-latinas get paid half as much as white men for the same work
-over 90% of ceo’s and government heads are men
-3/5 women are sexually assaulted by men in their lifetime (and thats only the cases that have been reported)
-womens efforts continue to be undermined in every arena, you have to work twice as hard to get half as far
-women are still seen as chattle and fodder for male amusement
-most people who are denied basic resources like healthcare and education happen to be women
-women still have to be the holy saints and examples in everything they do and are policed by everyone around them because our bodies are never our own. no room for error, while men can practically flush the world down the drain and no one will bat an eye.
-women are still raised to put up w anything and everything from men because “its just how it is for women”
thats the simple, uninvolved version. :/
